VA Imaging sells industrial cameras, lenses and machine vision lighting to engineers all over the world. We built the store that goes with it: a custom theme in seven languages and a checkout that understands how companies buy, from VAT number to purchase order number.

Built entirely for technical buyers: clear product data, a knowledge base full of articles with the relevant products right beside them, and everything in seven languages with the right currency per country.
A rebrand without casualties
GetCameras became VA Imaging and got a completely new store at the same time. Existing customers recognise the shop straight away; new customers see a brand that matches the quality of the products.
A checkout for companies
Three bespoke checkout extensions: the VAT number is checked live against the European database during checkout, the buyer enters their PO number and it lands on the order automatically, and invoices are simply waiting in the account.
A Shopify app as the engine
Behind the scenes a bespoke app drives all of this: orders are processed in a tidy queue and the team manages the settings from its own panel in the Shopify admin.

Built for buyers
Ordering on behalf of a company calls for different things than ordering as a consumer. A valid VAT number means no VAT on the invoice for a delivery inside the EU, so the checkout validates that number live against the European databases before the order goes through. No manual corrections afterwards, no credit notes.
The same goes for the purchase order number: the buyer enters it during checkout, our app puts it on the order automatically, and from there it reaches the invoice that accounts payable receives. And anyone who has mislaid an invoice simply downloads it again from their account. Exactly the things B2B customer service normally spends its day on.
Selling B2B on Shopify works fine. You just have to close the gaps Shopify leaves open: VAT, PO numbers and invoices. That is exactly what we did here.
Where it stands today
VA Imaging runs worldwide today on the theme and the app we built, and development continues: new sections for campaigns, extensions to the knowledge base and improvements at checkout.
The engineering is built to do its work unnoticed. Every order runs through a tidy queue per shop, failed jobs are kept and retried, and the team adjusts settings itself in a dedicated panel inside the Shopify admin. Dull and dependable, exactly what the engineering behind an international store should be.
