Usually at one of three moments: your revenue makes the transaction-fee difference outweigh the licence, you need wholesale alongside retail, or you are launching several country stores. We run that calculation with you before recommending anything.
Yes, and that is one of the strongest arguments for Plus. Business customers log in and see their own prices, catalogues and payment terms, while consumers see a normal store. For Shaped4 we merged two separate stores into exactly this setup.
Company accounts with multiple buyers, customer-specific price lists, volume pricing, payment terms and ordering on account, all natively and without apps. For anything beyond that, such as an ERP-driven quote flow, we build on top through the API.
Yes. An upgrade keeps your store, data and apps intact; it is a plan change, not a migration. The work sits in what you do with the new capabilities: checkout extensions, B2B setup and any additional storefronts.

The platform is the same. What Plus adds is headroom: higher API limits, checkout you can extend with your own logic, multiple storefronts under one account, and B2B built into the core. If none of those are currently blocking you, you do not need Plus yet.

Company accounts, customer-specific price lists, volume discounts and ordering on account come out of the box. That matters because the alternative, stacking apps to fake B2B behaviour, is what tends to break at scale.
