From Shopware to Shopify

Still on Shopware 5, or is the agency budget mostly going to upkeep? We migrate your store to Shopify, with data, B2B features and integrations fully along.

Shopware is a powerful platform, and exactly for that reason the bill is structural: every update, plugin and piece of custom code asks for developer hours, and the B2B features sit in the most expensive edition. Since support for Shopware 5 ended in July 2024, many stores are facing a rebuild either way. We make sure you do that one rebuild properly: to a platform where the upkeep is handled, with your data, your B2B processes and your integrations fully along.

Why Codemaker-S?

One rebuild instead of two

The step from Shopware 5 to 6 is already a rebuild project: new theme, new plugins, new integrations. We migrate directly from 5 as well as 6, so you make that investment once, towards the platform you can move forward with for years.

Recognised Shopify specialists

Everything we do revolves around Shopify. We know the platform inside and out, from themes to API integrations. That is what earned us our status as an official Shopify Partner.

SEO retention first

We map your Shopware URLs completely, set up 301 redirects and guard your rankings around launch. Your organic traffic simply moves with you.

How we work

01

Shopware audit

Plugins / Flows / SEO

We take stock of your plugins, Rule Builder rules, integrations and URL structure, and determine the Shopify equivalent for each part: standard, app or custom. You get a concrete migration plan with a fixed price.

02

Build & migration

Theme / Data migration / B2B

We build your new store in Shopify and migrate products, customers and order history, multilingual included. B2B features and ERP integrations are set up fresh on the Shopify APIs, with queueing and error handling.

03

Redirects & launch

301 redirects / Testing / Aftercare

Every old URL gets a 301 redirect, we test the full checkout flow and switch over at a quiet moment. Afterwards we monitor rankings and conversion.

Frequently asked questions

You probably have questions about Shopify as a platform, or about how we work at Codemaker-S. Not finding yours? Give us a call, or leave your details and we'll come back to you.

Yes. We extract products with variants, customers, orders and multilingual content from Shopware through the API or an export, from version 6 as well as version 5. We clean the data where needed and place everything in Shopify in a structured way; up front we agree per data type what moves and in which form.

We translate them up front, not afterwards. For every rule and automated process we determine the Shopify equivalent: a standard feature, an app or targeted custom work. Usually less remains than you expect, and what remains is documented before we build, so nothing goes quietly missing at launch.

Yes, and with Shopware stores that is often the heart of the project. We do not port the integration one to one but set it up fresh on the Shopify APIs, with queueing and error handling. Orders, stock and invoices keep flowing; whatever ERP you run, we agree up front which data flows which way.

Yes, your current Shopware store simply keeps running throughout the build; you do not miss a day of revenue. The actual switch is planned at a quiet moment and takes a few minutes at most. Just before launch we fetch the latest orders and customers one more time.

Yes. Customer-specific pricing, order lists, quotes and payment on account are built on Shopify Plus with the native B2B layer, or below it with targeted custom work. In the audit we put your current B2B processes next to Shopify's capabilities, so you know up front what is standard and where custom work comes in.

Not if it is done properly. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to the right new page, category and content pages included and per language version, and we guard your rankings around launch. That redirect plan is a fixed part of every migration we do, not an option.

Expect six to twelve weeks, depending on your catalogue, the number of integrations and whether B2B functionality comes along. A store with a lot of custom work and an ERP integration is planned more generously than a straightforward shop. After the audit you get a fixed timeline and a fixed price.

Because most stores do not use that extra muscle, but do carry its management load: every update past plugins, theme and custom code, and agency invoices every quarter for maintenance rather than improvement. If you genuinely use Shopware's strength, we say so honestly in the audit. If not, Shopify mostly buys you back time and predictability.

Shopware 5, Shopware 6 or Shopify?

Since 31 July 2024 Shopware 5 receives no updates and no security patches. Anyone still running it is facing a rebuild either way, because the step to Shopware 6 means a new theme, new plugins and newly configured integrations. That is exactly why this is the moment to put both routes side by side instead of staying inside Shopware by default. The complete picture of the platform, with the real costs and the edition pricing, is in our guide Shopware: what it costs and when you outgrow it.

What moves in the migration

Products with variants and images, categories as collections, customer accounts, order history and content pages, including your multilingual content per language version. Rule Builder rules and Flows are translated to their Shopify equivalent up front. We agree per data type what moves and in which form; after the migration we go through it together.

Cost and timeline

After the audit you receive a fixed quote and a timeline, usually six to twelve weeks. In return your structural management load drops; we make that calculation explicit in the audit.
